Respected Altian Doctor killed during military raid
One of Altis’ most prominent surgeons has been killed during a military raid on an FIA aerodrome, prompting international condemnation

Alexios Speras was out hunting birds, alone in the forests north west of Abdera, when he was shot dead in what has been described as a “brutal and unwarranted” attack. The incident occurred during an AAF sanctioned raid on the Krya Nera aerodrome, used by insurgent forces.
It is believed the raid was not conducted directly by AAF forces, but was instead conducted by one of the many military contractors based on the island. The use of contractors (PMCs) within the conflict has drawn international scrutiny, with considerable backlash from a large portion of the Altis population.
Within the wider community, Alexios’ death has been met with sadness and grief, with one of his former patients describing him as “a kind soul” with “a heart of gold”. One of his neighbours described him as a “hard working hero”, going on to mention his charitable work within the community. The Director of the Kavala hospital told our reporters that “Alexios will be missed, by his colleagues, his patients, and all those he has ever spoken to.". The news of his death were widely circulated by the official account of Kavala hospital on 𝕏 (formerly known as twitter).

When approached for comment on the killing, the AAF refused to give any details, citing “operational security amidst an ongoing conflict”. However, a spokesperson for the FIA, who asked to remain anonymous, was more willing to talk to our correspondent, releasing the following statement: “We strongly condemn this blatant attack on the civilian population of the island we call our home. The Altis government and the Military have clearly shown a complete disregard for the hard working people. We are demanding nothing less than an immediate end to the government’s use of contractors to hide and obfuscate their illegal and illegitimate actions.”
Many humanitarian organisations have also given statements urging an end to the conflict, and an end to civilian suffering. In a joint statement, The Red Cross, IDAP and Amnesty International released the following: “We call on all parties to prioritise human lives, and to limit the unnecessary suffering of the people of Altis. We strongly urge all parties to put down their weapons, and engage in discussions to bring an end to this conflict.”
