Car Bomb in Maruko Kills 8

Military Police are scrambling to find perpetrators of bombing that claims the life of 8 soldiers.

A car bomb detonated outside an LAF outpost in Maruko earlier today, killing 8 soldiers.

Guards had spotted the car being parked during the night. Since the outpost shares the road with civilian traffic, it was believed to have been a lone civilian. The bomb was not discovered until early morning, when a squad left the outpost for it’s scheduled morning patrol. They had heard strange mechanical noises from the car and called in an EOD1 team to stay on the safe side.

The EOD team arrived shortly after and, according to an LAF source, confirmed the presence of an explosive device. During the attempted disarmament, the device, along with the car, exploded, killing all of the EOD team and patrol squad.

Along with the landmine scare last month, this appears to be yet another source of tension for the government. No group has stepped forward to claim the act as their own, which is unusual for Lingor, as attacks of this type are typically well documented and used for propaganda.

President Ventura has harshly condemned the incident but has declined to comment further on the matter. The LAF have confirmed that they believe this to be a deliberate attack but refused to comment on upcoming investigations.
