Active shooter thwarted in Le Port; 1 wounded, shooter dead
ION and FROG respond to shots in the the harbour area of Le Port
Shots rocked Le Port on Friday morning, as a 36 year old Malden citizen opened fire on GP members and FROG [Forwards Operation and Recon Group] security forces.
The man, who has been identified as Cyril Dumont, was killed on Friday after a short exchange of fire between FROG, ION and himself. Dumont managed to hit a member of FROG in the head before trying to fire off more shots but was engaged by the FROG team, wounded and ultimately killed by Ewan Roberts of ION.
Roberts, a gunner on a nearby security vehicle, claims Dumont also unsuccessfully engaged his vehicle, though no evidence has been presented. The vehicle was posted nearby as a mobile checkpoint to ensure compliance with local regulations as controlled by ION and responded to the ensuing fire fight.
The weapon, an M14 battle rifle with an attached scope, was legally owned and registered to Dumont. It has been confiscated by ION after the shooting. His body has been returned to his family for a funeral after an autopsy; he was declared dead on the site of the shooting due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Dumont appears to have acted randomly, with an ION investigation on his internet and social activity indicating no links to the RdM, GP or any other organization. The act has been ruled out as an act of terrorism, for lack of connections.

The injured member of FROG, identified as codesign ‘JSM’, was swiftly treated on the site of the shooting and luckily only maintained minor injuries. This shooting comes as a shock to the citizens of Le Port, who had been living relatively comfortably after the victory of the GuĂ©rilla Populaire over the government of the Republique de Malden.
